Description

Create the perfect homemade pizza in no time with this quick and easy pizza dough recipe. With a soft, chewy texture and a crisp exterior, this versatile dough is ready to be topped with your favorite ingredients. Ideal for a weeknight dinner or an impromptu pizza night, it’s a foolproof recipe for pizza perfection!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp Active dry yeast (Alternatively, use instant yeast for a faster rise)
  • 1 tsp Sugar (Helps activate the yeast)
  • 1 cup Warm water (About 110°F 43°C)
  • 2 1/2 cup All-purpose flour (Start with 2 1/2 cups; add more as needed for a smooth dough)
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil (Extra virgin is best)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Stir gently and let sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Mix and Knead the Dough:

  1. Add the olive oil, salt, and 2 1/2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture.
  2. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes, adding additional flour a tablespoon at a time as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Let It Rise:

  1. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Shape and Bake:

  1. Punch down the dough and divide it into 2 equal portions for large pizzas (or 4 portions for personal pizzas).
  2. Roll or stretch each portion into your desired pizza shape on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Add your favorite toppings and bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the toppings are bubbly.

Notes

  • Ensure your water is warm (about 110°F) to properly activate the yeast—too hot and it may kill the yeast.
  • For an even quicker rise, you can use instant yeast and skip the initial proofing step by mixing it directly with the flour.
  • This dough is perfect for both thin and thick crust pizzas—simply adjust the thickness as you shape it.
  • If you’re in a real hurry, a 15-minute rise will work, though the flavor and texture improve with a full 30-minute rise.

Enjoy your Quick Pizza Dough—a simple, versatile foundation for homemade pizza perfection!
