Description

What’s the one food that’s guaranteed to disappear in minutes at any party? This Philly Cheesesteak Crescent Ring is an absolute showstopper. It looks incredibly impressive, but it’s one of the easiest and most delicious things you can make. This savory, beefy, and cheesy wreath is the ultimate game day appetizer or easy weeknight dinner that will have everyone reaching for “just one more” slice.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tubes (8 oz each) Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
  • 1 Medium Sized Onion, sliced
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, sliced
  • 1 package (8 oz) Full-Fat Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup Low-Sodium Beef Broth
  • 3/4 pound Deli Roast Beef, chopped
  • 1/4 pound Thinly Sliced Provolone Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • To taste Salt & Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Sauté Veggies: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper and sauté for about 10 minutes, until soft, tender, and starting to caramelize.
  2. Create the Creamy Philly Filling: Turn the heat down to medium. Add the softened cream cheese and the beef broth to the skillet. Stir continuously as the cream cheese melts, creating a rich, smooth sauce.
  3. Add Beef: Fold in the chopped deli roast beef. Stir just until the beef is warmed through, then season with salt and pepper to your liking. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  4. Assemble the Crescent Ring Wreath: Unroll both tubes of crescent rolls. On a large, ungreased pizza pan, arrange the triangles in a wreath shape. The wide ends of the triangles should be in the center, overlapping slightly to form a solid circle (about 4-5 inches wide). The pointed ends will hang off the edge.
  5. Fill, Top, and Fold: Spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture evenly onto the wide part of the crescent rolls (the center circle). Layer the slices of provolone cheese on top of the beef mixture. Take the pointed end of each crescent triangle and fold it up and over the filling. Tuck the point under the inner edge of the ring to secure it.
  6. Bake to Golden Perfection: Place the assembled crescent ring into the preheated oven. Bake for 20 minutes, until the crescent dough is puffed, beautifully golden brown, and the cheesy filling is hot and bubbling.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let the ring rest on the pan for 5-10 minutes before slicing it like a pizza and serving hot.

Notes

  • Caramelize for Flavor: Sauté the veggies until they are soft and have sweet, caramelized brown edges for the best flavor base.
  • Smooth Sauce: When adding the cream cheese and broth, stir continuously as the cheese melts to create a rich, smooth sauce that coats the beef and veggies.
  • Wreath Assembly: Overlap the wide ends of the crescent triangles in the center to form a solid base for the filling so it doesn’t leak through.
  • Tuck the Tips: Tucking the pointed ends of the dough under the inner edge of the ring helps to secure the ring and keep it from unravelling while it bakes.
  • Let it Rest: Letting the ring rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing is important. It helps the filling set and prevents it from spilling out everywhere.
