Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Pasta Skillet

Recipe by Evelyn Marcella Rivera

A quick one-skillet dinner featuring golden seared chicken tossed with spaghetti in a sticky, sweet-savory honey garlic sauce with fresh ginger. Garnished with green onions and sesame seeds, this 30-minute meal delivers takeout-level flavor with minimal cleanup.

  • Total Time30 minutes
  • Yield4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 oz spaghetti or pasta of choice
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • optional sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add bite-sized chicken pieces in a single layer, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 6–8 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Make the Sauce: While the chicken cooks, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl.
  3. Add the Sauce: Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Stir to coat evenly and let simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Cook the Pasta: While the sauce simmers, boil pasta in a separate pot according to package instructions. Drain well, reserving a small amount of pasta water.
  5. Combine: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until the noodles are glossy and fully coated in the sticky sauce.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Turn off the heat, garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot.

Notes

Don’t crowd the skillet when searing the chicken — cook in batches if needed for a proper golden crust. Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best flavor in a sauce this simple. Save a splash of pasta water before draining in case the sauce needs loosening. The honey can be reduced by 1–2 tablespoons for a more savory profile. Do not rinse the pasta — the surface starch helps the sauce cling to the noodles.
